Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Davor Filipović, Chairman of the Parliamentary Economic Committee Žarko Tušek, Austrian Ambassador to Croatia Josef Markus Wuketich; representatives, management and partners of FACC company, along with hundreds of people, attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Croatian Prime Minister Plenković emphasized that FACC's investment and establishment of factories in Croatia fully demonstrated Croatia's competitiveness and attractiveness, stable political situation, efficient government, high labor quality, and excellent transportation infrastructure. Croatia would soon join the Eurozone and the Schengen area, with high development potential. Prime Minister Plenković thanked the FACC shareholders and management team for finally choosing to invest in Croatia, saying that the project would effectively promote local employment and economic development in Croatia. Prime Minister Plenković also emphasized that this project was another model project of China-Croatia cooperation after the Pelješac Bridge project.
Ambassador Qi congratulated the grand opening of the FACC factory in Croatia and said that the aerospace industry was a future-oriented high-tech industry. The project had overcome challenges such as the epidemic, while its implementation in Croatia showed the desire of Chinese companies to increase investment and cooperation in Croatia, and was a successful example of tripartite cooperation between China, Croatia, and Austria, stated Ambassador Qi.
Ambassador Qi emphasized that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia. Not long ago, the leaders of the two countries had exchanged congratulatory messages and agreed to consolidate the traditionally friendly relationship, expand the field of practical cooperation, and continuously promote the deepening and practicality of the bilateral relationship. Ambassador Qi stated that the Chinese government supported enterprises to carry out economic, trade, and investment cooperation with enterprises from Croatia and other European countries based on mutual benefit, fairness, and non-discrimination. The Chinese Embassy in Croatia was willing to strengthen communication and exchanges with all parties to push China-Croatia and China-EU cooperation to a new level.
FACC Croatia Factory is a greenfield investment project of FACC AG in Croatia controlled by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China. FACC AG is an Austrian aerospace company specializing in the production of civil aircraft components. Aviation Industry Corporation of China acquired FACC AG in 2009 and became its largest shareholder.
