On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the sixth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, 2019 Silk Road Business Summit was held in Xi'an, China on December 7, 2019.
The summit is themed with a New Chapter for Win-Win Cooperation, a New World Open to Mutual Benefits. Around 300 Belt and Road government officials, international organization delegates, chamber leaders, transnational enterprise heads, and think tank experts will attend the summit.
The Summit reflected on the first four years of cooperative work of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC) that currently gathers 218 organizational members from 82 countries: national chambers of commerce, business associations and other important international business platforms. SRCIC, that serves as the bridge between governments and enterprises, at this annual gathering evaluated the work of its organizational members, concrete results of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and current challenges in the global economy, including trade unilateralism and protectionism, increased economic instability, climate change and others.
The Silk Road Business Summit is the annual flagship event of SRCIC. It has been successfully held for 3 successive years (2016, 2017 in Xi 'an City, Shaanxi Province, 2018 in Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province). More than 1,000 government representatives, ambassadors to China, chamber leaders, transnational enterprise heads, experts and scholars from over 100 Belt and Road countries attended the summit, jointly promoting economic and trade cooperation and cultrual exchanges under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
