TRIESTE – Italy’s Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government Debora Serracchiani has said that Trieste port may start cooperating with Shanghai port as part of China’s New Silk Road economic project.
After completing a visit to Shanghai, Serracchiani said she discussed the advantages of the region’s logistics system and the business opportunities that Trieste port could create for the Chinese port.

The Italian side is pleased with the conversations in which it has become apparent that the Chinese giants are increasingly interested in the Adriatic Corridor. It is about goods passing through the southern European ports north of Europe.

The presentation of Trieste port was carried out in cooperation with the president of Autorita’ di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Orientale (Eastern Adriatic Sea Port Authority), Zeno D’Agostino, and in the presence of the management of Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG).

SIPG is the operator of all state-owned terminals in Shanghai’s port system.
