Silk Road Festival in Osijek, Đakovo and Beli Manastir

OSIJEK - As part of the celebration of the Croatian-Chinese year of culture and tourism on Friday, the "Silk Road" Festival started in the yard of the Osijek Food Technology Faculty, where performers of national dances and performers from seven countries of Asia and the Middle East perform, and from Cepin municipality nearby Osijek.

Foreign performers are from Kazakhstan, Iran, China, India, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey.

The "Silk Road" Festival is a manifestation in which Slavonia and Baranja can be presented to people who do not know much about these parts of Croatia, but also a good opportunity to introduce a part of the culture brought by foreign performers, said Deputy Osijek-Baranja County Attorney Goran Ivanović.

"Such manifestations of broader perspectives that can improve results in our continental tourism, which is one of the cornerstones of the Osijek-Baranja County," Ivanovic added.

Tatjana Roth, head of the County Department of Continental Tourism, said that "Osijek-Baranja County has recognized the importance of inclusion in the Croatian-Chinese year of culture and tourism and so we have organized the Silk Festival."

The festival continues with the performance of the same performers on Saturday, June 15, at the State Archives of Đakovo and on Sunday, June 16 at the Ethnology Center of the Baranja Heritage in Beli Manastir.

The Osijek-Baranja County is a co-organizer of the festival together with the Silk Road Festival Association. The Silk Road Festival contributes to the testimony of multilateral cooperation with all countries across the Silk Road. Because Silk Road is not just a geographic political term that today connects Asia and Europe with its modernization, it is a path that symbolizes the transfer of cultural heritage and dialogue between countries of great diversity.

TheSilk Road Festival will take place in Osijek-Baranja County in the period from 14 to 16. June 2019. Realization of the Festival will take place in three destinations: Osijek, Đakovo and Beli Manastir.
